THE DRUNKEN SAILOR
This licensed restaurant is at
the bottom of New Zealand’s
mainland. I had lunch there
and I can recommend the
toasted salmon sandwiches
and the cold lager beer. The
Drunken Sailor is well worth a
visit and the view is magnificent.

TALKING LOO
I had to travel to the very bottom
of New Zealand to learn that the
world now has talking loo’s. This
loo will talk to you and tell which
button you need to push to close
the door and which button will
open the door. The loo will then
tell you that you have 10 minutes
to do your business. It then plays
soothing music so you can relax
and enjoy your 10 minutes of
pulling faces in the smallest room
in oyster land.

FOLLOW MY JOURNEY
Don't forget you can follow my journey visiting every business
on SH1 from Bluff to Cape Reinga in my online blog The
Travellers Guide.

LANDS END NEW ZEALAND
Rob and Mary McIntosh are your
hosts at the most southern accommodation
house on the mainland.
They call their home the little Inn
by the sea. This is where I stayed
the first night on my journey from
Bluff to Cape Reinga. Mary is an
excellent cook and Rob keeps you
fully informed about all there is to
know about Bluff. |

BLUFF SUNRISE
If you are an early riser like I am
then you will have the pleasure
of enjoying some spectacular
morning sun rises from the bottom
end of New Zealand. |

STIRLING POINT This is photo of a rock as you drive into Stirling Point
at the bottom of the mainland It was named after Captain
William Stirling who started a whaling station here in 1836. |

This magnificent looking home overlooking the harbour is
well worth a visit to Bluff to see

This aluminium artwork sits
on the side of a hill at Stirling
Point but unfortunately it
has no name plate to give it
any meaning. |
